What a day! We headed to on of my favorite spots on the East Coast. I'm not sure that there's enough wind. It takes us 20 mins on the dual carriage way. After 25 minutes I realised that we're lost. AGAIN!!! I've been coming to this beach for almost 20 years now, still I can only get there from the south. So I ask in the village and we have to take the second one on the left and through the next village, then right on the t-junction and after a couple of hundred yards we turn right. Yes this is the place. We're getting out of the stuffy car. The kids are looking forward to the sand. I'm looking forward to the wind. The wind, the wind... Yes - I've been flying kites for a few years now, but I only recently saved up for a Flexifoil Super 10. It's a real beauty! Mine is neon green with a bit of black where the Flexifoil logo is placed.
The kids are ready immediately. I'm taking my time. I've only flown this baby a couple of times, all within the city limits, but the wind was not reliable enough to make it go - really go. Well today is different. Today there is wind, loads of wind, and I'm gonna use it, harness it, into the air pockets of my new kite, the Super 10 - my Super 10! It took me a coupe of months to get the spare cash together and now I'm going to fly him the first time the way he's meant to be flown.

You noticed that I'm using "he" for my Super 10. No way could this brute be a female!! He's far too big and in my native German "der Drachen" the kite, is male anyway.
I assemble my wind-driven friend and unroll his lines. 135kgs on each is what they can handle, red handle to the left and blue to the right. I'm tying the lines on the kite and I'm walking towards the handles. They're massive and luxuriously upholstered. I'm loving the detail and the secure feeling of holding them.
Now it's time to try it. My partner is ready to lift Super 10, but there is no need. The air pockets fill with air, and he sneaks up, less than a foot off the beach bed. Then it happens all very fast, and within a a couple of seconds we're at maximum height. 100 feet (30m), and the Super 10 starts doing what he does best. I'm still on my feet, but I'm being dragged towards the sea. Imagine the power! I'm 107 kg's and this kite is dragging me towards the horizon! I'm following my kite and I'm in no way in control. Together with the wind, Super 10 decides where we're going. Then the wind pulls me down, towards the ground, and BAMMMM! My beautiful Super 10 hits the ground. It sounds as if there'll be nothing left of him. All bones (struts) broken... But before I can respond and head towards his wreck, he's taking off again. He's launching, even faster than before and this time I'm flying figures of eight. First small ones, then they're getting bigger and bigger, until the sky appears to be ours. Never mine, cause I'm always at the end of the lines of this majestic bird. My bird, we're flying!... I'm flying!... We're flying!...
Two hours later and we're still at it. I only needed launching assistance a couple of times and my partner has tried flying Super 10 as well. It was her first time ever to try a power kite. In fact she's only ever flown kites 3 times or so.
We're packing up. There's nobody left on this beach, and it's freezing. The kids have build their sand castles and we're all having a quick roll. Once we finished eating, packing goes quickly, and we leave back home to the big city. I'm still out there with my Super 10. Still up there at maximum height feeling the sheer power of the wind in my limbs.
You guys must try this! It's the most fun you'll ever have. The most fun, and the best full body work out you'll ever have... with your clothes on, that is. Peace, rice and vegetables Possums!...
